EDF’s Project Preparation Facility continues to support Rift Valley Mining in preparing a limestone quarrying and processing project in Nsanje district. The project aims to produce Hydrated Lime, Quick Lime, and Agricultural Lime for local and export markets, contributing to value addition and industrial development in Malawi.

Through EDF financing, the project has progressed to the drilling stage, where samples are being extracted for processing to determine the project’s viability. This critical step will provide the data required to finalize feasibility studies, ensuring the project is bankable and ready for investment.

“Our project is currently in the exploration stage, and reaching this point has been made possible through financing from the Export Development Fund’s Project Preparation Facility. The facility provided essential funding for our initial exploration phase—support that is often unavailable from traditional banks. I encourage anyone with promising ideas to pursue them and consider approaching EDF for support,’– Russel Thornicroft, Managing Director- Rift Valley Mining Company.

Once implemented, the project will promote local manufacturing, create employment opportunities, and uplift livelihoods in Nsanje and beyond. EDF remains committed to facilitating the preparation of impactful projects that drive Malawi’s economic transformation.
